PLAYING CARDS PROJECT- REVIEW

i have decided that i will split the playing cards project into two parts.

PART ONE:

i will need to create the typeface for the uppercase and lower case for the playing cards project

this part will be carried out throughout the weeks leading up to the easter holidays.
through this time i will have all the final designs for the cards printed and packaged,
this will include the consideration of print process, and stocks. for example duplexing each card to give a more official classy overall feel. the individual box for the cards will also be made by this point.

this will allow me time to finalize and evaluate the designs within the easter break.
i will be able to refine the typeface in the easter break and apply them to the final card designs.
i will print the set of cards and mock them up as close as possible to the print processes. in the easter break.

PART TWO

  • produce designs for the joker cards
  • produce limited edition screen-prints (consider different print)
  • produce certificates for the prints,
  • consider packaging for the prints

  • design different weights for the typeface
  • promote the typeface, posters which show sections and example of the typeface in production, package
  • produce a book which will be based on the cards produced
  • look into the backgrounds for each of the cards produced,
  • cover a range of layouts and designs for the book.
  • consider if the book needs new illustrations, or prepare photo-shoots for the cards produced and use images with in the book
  • look into how the book will be bound, what type of book is it? colour, stock, print porcess used on the inside and the outside (letter press, embossing, book binding)
when all finished, think of the overall packaging, and possible promotion, get print quote where possible ongoing throughout the project.
